Motor racing: Red Bull’s Verstappen wins in France to stretch overall lead, Formula One News & Top Stories

MARSEILLE (Reuters) – Red Bull’s Max Verstappen passed Mercedes rival and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton on the penultimate lap to win the French Grand Prix and stretch his Formula One lead to 12 points on Sunday (June 20).

The victory at Le Castellet was a third in a row for Red Bull after street circuit wins in Monaco and Azerbaijan.

Verstappen’s Mexican team mate Sergio Perez finished third.

With the latest win in France, Verstappen now leads the world championship race with 131 points, with Hamilton and Perez second and third respectively on 119 and 84.
