No podium for Elien Perez, Mary Flor Diaz in weightlifting worlds

MANILA, Philippines—Two Filipino bets wrapped up their marketing campaign with no medal within the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships Wednesday in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Elien Perez settled for the eighth place within the girls’s -49 kilogram lifting a complete weight of 166kg (73kg snatch, 93kg clear and jerk).

Mary Flor Diaz, a silver medalist within the 2021 Asian Championships, failed in all of her three makes an attempt within the snatch and was subsequently unranked within the girls’s -45kg.

Perez registered a 73kg carry in her second snatch try after failing in her first strive on the weight.

She then tried for for 77kg however couldn’t full the carry.

Perez was then profitable in her first strive at 93kg within the clear and jerk however failed at her two tries at 95kg.

Diaz, in the meantime, failed in three makes an attempt at 65kg within the snatch however had an 80kg carry in her second try on the clear and jerk.

Thunya Sukcharoen of Thailand claimed the gold within the girls’s -45kg division after lifting a complete of 172kg (77kg snatch, 95kg clear and jerk whereas compatriot  Surodchana Khambao dominated the ladies’s -55kg with a Toal of 191kg (86kg snatch, 105kg clear and jerk).

No Filipino has but to win a medal as far as Fernando Agad completed eighth within the males’s -55kg on Wednesday.

High girls’s prospects like Tokyo Olympian Elreen Ando, Vanessa Sarno and Kristel Macrohon have but to compete.
