SINGAPORE – For some, batik is just another textile used in fashion. For designer Nur Aqilah Zailan, it is a grounding pillar of her identity.

The 33-year-old behind conscious batik fashion label Studio Gypsied (studiogypsied.com) works with female batik artisans in Indonesia to craft apparel and bags.
