Hollywood celebrity and Canadian fan favorite Ryan Reynolds was honoured Friday with a Governor Common’s Performing Arts Award and a touching video together with an authentic tune by one of many Barenaked Women co-founders.

The B.C.-born actor is well-known for his frequent tributes to his hometown of Vancouver and help for Canadian causes. On Friday he publicized a donation to the Canadian Crimson Cross for B.C. flood victims and urged followers to observe his lead.

Reynolds posted a video of the brand new tune that includes musician Steven Web page proclaiming “Canada loves you again” that confirmed the actor’s emotional response as he watched, carrying his new medal.
