No buildings are threatened by the hearth, which has burned about six acres Sunday afternoon.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — Crews are responding to a wildfire burning within the foothills west of Ken Caryl Valley in Jefferson County Sunday afternoon, in line with West Metro Hearth Rescue.
The hearth, which has been named the West Ranch Hearth, has burned about six acres as of 4:30 p.m. Sunday, in line with the Inter-Canyon Hearth Safety District (ICFPD). No buildings are threatened.
Greater than 30 firefighters and 20 fireplace equipment are working the hearth.
ICFPD stated the hearth is creeping by means of brush, pushed by erratic winds at 10 to fifteen miles per hour.
Smoke from the hearth is seen southwest of Denver.
A separate fireplace is burning within the Idaho Springs space, west of the Denver metro. That fireplace, named the Miners Candle Hearth, has burned about 20 acres and destroyed two buildings.
