Canada’s Maggie MacNeil set a brief course world document within the ladies’s 50 meters backstroke to win gold on the world championships in Abu Dhabi.
MacNeil, who received 100m butterfly gold on the Tokyo Olympics, clocked 25.27 to shave 0.33 seconds off Kira Toussaint’s mark on Monday.
“If you happen to would have advised me my first world document can be backstroke, I wouldn’t have believed you,” MacNeil stated. “But it surely’s good to get that out of approach and hopefully tomorrow I even have one thing within the 100m fly as effectively.”
Fellow Canadian Kylie Masse took silver, whereas Sweden’s Louise Hansson bagged bronze.
