LOS ANGELES – With a new documentary about his life, Wolfgang Puck hopes to inspire young people with how he overcame poverty and an abusive stepfather to become the world’s first celebrity chef.

And speaking to The Straits Times via Zoom, the Austria-born restaurateur explains why he thinks Asian fusion cuisine got a bad reputation after he first popularised it and how growing up poor shaped his approach to food.
