Facebook to Shut Down Facial Recognition in Photos, Videos

Facebook said it is shutting down its facial recognition system in the coming weeks.

People who have opted into the service won’t be automatically recognized in video and photo content, Facebook vice president of artificial intelligence Jerome Pesenti said in a post on the company’s website. He said the social-media platform is going to delete individual facial recognition templates for over one billion people.
