MANILA, Philippines—Welterweight contender Jordan Williams is bringing some tenacity in his fight against undefeated prospect Ian Garry in the undercard of UFC 268: Usman vs. Covington 2 come Sunday.

The 6-foot Williams, who is of Filipino, American, German, and Nigerian descent, said he’s bringing the spirit of the Philippines when he steps into his first UFC pay-per-view.

“I would like to draw inspiration and support from my Filipino roots this Sunday at UFC 268,” said Williams who inherited the blood from his grandfather who served in the US Navy.

Williams, though, will need all the inspiration he can get as he’s literally fighting for his UFC life after two straight defeats in Dana White’s promotion.

His last victory inside the Octagon was in September 2020 when he knocked out Gregory Rodrigues in the first round.

He’s since lost two straight against Nassourdine Imavov and Mickey Gall via unanimous decision and submission, respectively.

“I fought my way into the UFC,” said Williams who had five fights so far under the promotion’s umbrella. “I am going to do my best to stay there. It is electrifying to be here in the UFC.”
