Nesthy Petecio cheers for ‘bunso’ Carlos Yulo ahead of vault final

MANILA, Philippines—Filipino boxer Nesthy Petecio, who is set to compete for gold in the Olympics, expressed her support for the Philippine contingent’s “bunso” Carlos Yulo, who will get a shot at a medal in Tokyo on Monday.

The country’s bet in artistic gymnastics is competing in the vault final on Monday.

Petecio, who will compete in the final of the women’s featherweight division on Tuesday, took to Twitter to wish Yulo good luck ahead of the medal round.

“Kaway kaway! With bunso @c_edrielzxs good luck and God bless bukas champ!” posted Petecio on Twitter. “Kahit anong mangyari, proud kami sayo, tandaan mo yan!”

(What’s up! With little bro @c_edrielxzs good luck and God bless tomorrow champ! Whatever happens, know that we’re always proud of you!)

Yulo, who faltered in his pet event floor exercise, needs to deliver big in the final at Ariake Gymnastics Centre.

Petecio, meanwhile, will face Japan’s Irie Sena for the fourth time but this one would be for the gold medal in the Olympics.
