DENVER — The Regional Transportation District (RTD) is partnering with the federal authorities and a nonprofit group devoted to crime prevention as it really works to enhance safety round Denver’s Union Station.
Based on an announcement from the transit supplier, the company is taking motion in response to “unwelcome actions” on the transportation hub.
RTD mentioned it is making the most of strategic partnerships with the Transportation Safety Administration’s (TSA) Seen Intermodal Prevention and Response groups and the Guardian Angels.
By leveraging these partnerships and rising transit police patrols throughout peak intervals, RTD mentioned, the company will “considerably bolster” the safety presence at Union Station, the bus concourse, rail platforms and transit pavilions and on sixteenth Road MallRide shuttles, in addition to different bus routes alongside the Colfax hall.
The adjustments come after the union representing RTD employees complained of harmful circumstances, saying they’ve seen open drug use, vandalism and violence.
The union mentioned employees would refuse to work if circumstances had been unsafe.
